Course Description

This course introduces nursing concepts related to adult health disorders. The fundamental principles presented are concepts of health and illness, pain management, and psychosocial aspects of nursing care. The importance of nursing observations and the implementation of safe and effective nursing actions are emphasized. This course will explore disorders including cancer, integumentary, immune, musculoskeletal, nervous, sensory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, blood, peripheral vascular, genitourinary, reproductive, and renal disorders. This course includes clinical experiences to enhance practical understanding and treatment of disorders in the adult within the LPN scope of practice. This clinical will include the administration of oral, topical, and parental medications.

  6. Demonstrate therapeutic nursing interventions related to patient priorities in the clinical experience.
  7. Demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking in the nursing lab/simulation and clinical situation.
  8. Retain and recall the basics of medical/surgical asepsis in the nursing lab/simulation and clinical areas.
  9. Demonstrate appropriate preparation and medication administration.
  10. Demonstrate professional behaviors for the LPN scope of practice in the care of the adult.
