Course Description

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of welding with an emphasis on safety, equipment operation, and hands-on practice. Students will gain practical experience in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and oxy-fuel cutting and welding. Training includes equipment setup, bead placement, joint preparation, metal cutting, and weld quality evaluation. Through guided lab exercises, students will develop the foundational skills, confidence, and technical understanding needed for success in advanced welding coursework or entry-level positions in the skilled trades.
