Art Transfer Pathway Associate of Fine Arts

Program Overview:

The Art Transfer Pathway AFA offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Fine Arts degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Art bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities

The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities* enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.

Career Opportunities:

Studio artists work in art media including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, digital art, and photography. Most of a Studio Artist’s day is spent creating artwork, arranging shows, and preparing work for exhibition. They create work to display and sell in galleries. Art degrees can lead to many associated careers in art-related fields including Arts Administration, Art Education, Museum Administration, Art Therapy, among others.

Additional Information:

An ART AFA student transferring into a BFA or BA program may choose to specialize in one of many visual arts fields including: photography, graphic design, web design, digital art, illustration, ceramics, sculpture, painting, and drawing.

MINNESOTA TRANSFER CURRICULUM (MnTC)/GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (50 TOTAL CREDITS)

GOAL 1: COMMUNICATION (11 CREDITS)

GOAL 3: NATURAL SCIENCES (3 CREDITS)

GOAL 4: MATHEMATICAL/LOGICAL REASONING (3 CREDITS)

GOAL 5: HISTORY AND THE SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES (3 CREDITS)

GOAL 6: THE HUMANITIES AND FINE ARTS (27 CREDITS) PROGRAM CORE REQUIREMENTS:

Choose a minimum of 6 credits of ART courses.

ELECTIVES (4 CREDITS)

Any course numbered above 1000 as needed to achieve a total of 60 credits.
