PSEO – Eligibility Criteria

PSEO enrollment is limited to Minnesota high school Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. There is one option in which a junior or senior PSEO student may enroll. There is one option in which a senior PSEO student may enroll. There is one option in which a sophomore PSEO student may enroll. Each program has its own entrance criteria as follows:
Option AJuniors and Seniors enrolling in A.A. and A.S. degree program courses. This option allows for the maximum flexibility in course selection as a PSEO student. Seniors must have a 2.5 or higher overall grade point average. Juniors must have a 3.0 or higher overall grade point average.

Option BSeniors enrolling in certificate, diploma, or A.A.S. programs or courses only. This allows for enrollment in only those courses that are required in the certificate, diploma or A.A.S. program in which the student has been admitted and meets all individual course prerequisites. No specific high school grade point average is required. See the RCTC Program List – it includes certificate, diploma or A.A.S. programs to help determine which option is best for you.

Sophomore Option – There is an option in which Sophomores may enroll in PSEO – career and technical education course their first semester. Please follow this link for more information.
Prior to registration, all PSEO applicants are required to successfully complete the ACCUPLACER or submit their ACT scores (Reading – 21 or higher, Math 22 or higher) to Brooke Kosok by emailing a copy to Brooke.Kosok@rctc.edu

Eligible Minnesota high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who wish to enroll under this program must submit the entire RCTC PSEO online application with an official transcript of high school credits completed to date. Most forms within this application packet require the high school counselor’s endorsement as well as the parent signature before admission will be considered. A student may not be eligible for any college program that requires completion of a high school diploma or GED for entrance.

The Minnesota Department of Education will only cover PSEO expenses billed by the institution(s) to which PSEO students have been admitted. PSEO students will be responsible for any tuition, fees, and supplies at any institution(s) to which they are not admitted.

Junior and Senior participants may enroll either part-time or full-time in the program. Part-time participants may enroll in a maximum of 11 credits in a given semester and be enrolled as a part-time student at their high school/home school. Full-time participants must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 18 credits.
