The French Club may not be what people expect.

French Club President Mallory Stahl, left, and club member Haven Honermann represent their club during Campus Club Expo day.

“The purpose of French Club and the French films isn’t really to help with language like some may think,” said President Mallory Stahl. “It does help those who are studying, but it is mainly for those who want to connect with the French culture.”

To this end, the French Club offers a variety of activities. Last year they put on a Mardi Gras party that was campus wide and an Oxfam Hunger awareness banquet. This year, the club plans to bring back a French conversations and games table, which is open to all students.

The ability to speak French is not required, though these activities are geared toward students learning French. The club also presents films in French with English subtitles to help people connect and understand other cultures better. The movies occur monthly and are also open to whoever wants to attend. If that is not enough incentive, the club offers free food at the movies.
