Another year brings another chance

As 2018 comes to an end, everyone is excited for the new year to come. With a new year comes new chances, new goals, and a renewed motivation.

Too often, however, people forget their resolutions within the first month of the new year. This makes me wonder why people give up so easily on themselves and their goals?

Isnít it time to make this THE year for you to get off the couch and try new things? Sure, you didnít stick to your plan for this year, but you now have a whole new slate. 2019 could be the year you challenge yourself by starting a new job, by engaging yourself in a new sport, or by traveling somewhere youíve never been before.

The only thing ever holding us back is our mindset. As long as we have an open mind, we can truly achieve anything. It doesnít matter if you make a couple mistakes or if you donít start off right away. What matters is that you stick to your plan in the long run.

A few helpful tips for this new year is to remember several things: set a routine, keep your eyes on your goal, and most importantly, take care of your mental health.

Whatever it is that you hope to accomplish in 2019, make sure to make a routine of it. Whenever you incorporate something into your daily schedule, it makes it easier to do because it becomes part of your daily regimen.

I understand that everyone is human and that things will come up. It wonít be easy to stick to your plans and you will end up going off track. But, no matter what happens, if you sincerely want to stick to your plans, keep your eye on the goal. Remind yourself why you are doing what youíre doing and what the outcome will be. This way, you can refresh your mindset and be as excited to achieve your goal as you were when the year first started.

Finally, I advise everyone, including myself, to be mindful of their mental health during 2019. You should challenge your limits, but donít push yourself beyond what you can handle. Learn from your mistakes, donít be so hard on yourselves, and keep in mind that good days will always follow bad days. Take time to interact with your family, meet new people, and be grateful for the simple moments. Remember that this year will go by fast so in the meantime, make the most of it and let it be a year that you can look back on fondly.

Happy New Year!
