RCTC receives job skills grant

Echo staff report

Rochester Community and Technical College recently received a Minnesota Job Skills Partnership grant award of $48,913 for the Kerry Bio-Science project.

Kerry recently announced an $18.1 million expansion of the Rochester facility at 2402 Seventh St. NW as part of a larger expansion project at the manufacturing site.

This expansion includes a 5,300-square-foot addition and will provide added production equipment.

“This grant will allow for design of a training program for operators, team leaders, and maintenance personnel at the Rochester, Minnesota Kerry plant, providing an opportunity to disseminate curriculum to similar production organizations located throughout Minnesota,”said Jennifer Wilson, RCTC’s Director of Business and Workforce Education.

“Through classroom design and practical application, key industry skills will be taught, providing a strong foundation for job-specific skills required to meet the progressive industry needs,” Wilson said. “This training program will also allow Kerry to develop the skills of current and future talent within the organization to increase operational efficiencies.”
