RCTC seeks nominations for Beat the Odds Scholarships

Echo staff report

The scholarship nomination and application process for the 17th annual Beat the Odds Scholarship Award Program is open through October 31

The Beat the Odds Scholarships honor local high school seniors or first-year RCTC students who have overcome significant odds to become personally and academically successful. The purpose of the program is to raise awareness for the struggles of youth in our community and recognize their ability to overcome these challenges.

Selected students will be honored as recipients of a $2,500 scholarship to attend Rochester Community and Technical College. The scholarship award ceremony on Jan. 12 also provides the opportunity to highlight the support networks and mentors who reached out to help these outstanding recipients. A video featuring the students and their stories will be presented at the event.
