Five RCTC horticulture students competed in a National Collegiate Landscape Competition on March 20-23 at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

A total of 64 collegiate teams, which included 788 students, competed during the annual three-day competition for students in two- and four-year colleges and universities.

Brice Bias, Karl Grebe, Elizabeth Prigge, Izaak Thielke, and Brittany Wilcox participated in seven events: annual and perennial identification, arboriculture, exterior landscape design, landscape plant installation, plant problem diagnosis, truck and trailer operation, and woody ornamental plant identification.

The RCTC team competed in individual events as well as team events. At the NCLC, Karl Grebe received the David J. Frank Landscape Contracting Career Builder Scholarship. Although they did not win, ìagainst a team of 40 … the RCTC team did well,î horticulture instructor Robin Fruth-Dugstad told the Rochester Post Bulletin.
