How golf supports student-athletes

Echo staff report

Mark your calendars for the 24th annual Yellowjacket Golf Classic on Monday, June 11, for a day of golf and fundraising to support RCTC athletics.

The tournament will feature a day of golfing with several games, including land on the green and longest putt. Following the tournament, participants are invited to enjoy a buffet dinner with raffle and prize giveaways.

Proceeds from this annual event go toward supporting RCTC athletic teams, including baseball, softball, golf, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, and wrestling. The tournament also benefits the RCTC Foundation and its mission to provide scholarships for students.

The support of past volunteers, players and sponsors has helped provide the resources necessary to keep RCTC student-athletes on the field and in the classroom.

Past sponsorship from the Yellowjacket Golf Classic has provided everything from warm-up gear to transportation between games. This support allows RCTC athletes to focus on their sport and perform their best.

The event will be held at Willow Creek Golf Course at 1700 49th Street SW, with check-in starting at 11 a.m.

Participants must register by June 1 to take part in the tournament. For registration forms and guidelines, contact the Foundation office at (507) 281-7771.
