Job Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate for this position is a second-year Surgical Technology student.
  • Primary responsibilities include supervising the lab during open hours designated for student practice outside of scheduled class time and serving as a practice partner for skill development.
  • Additional duties involve assisting with lab setup and cleanup, organizing and storing supplies, and supporting the assembly and maintenance of surgical instruments.

  • The work-study student represents Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) and is expected to demonstrate both personal and professional accountability.
  • The individual must uphold a respectful and inclusive attitude, recognizing and valuing human diversity in all interactions.

  • Complete student worker training when assigned.
  • Communicate any schedule changes to your lead worker in advance.
  • Submit your payroll forms to gain access to eTime through e-Services (Student Employment).

  • You are entitled to a 15-minute break for every four consecutive hours worked.

Performance Review

Students are eligible for a wage increase after they have worked 200 hours and based on performance evaluation. The area supervisor will assess the student employee’s performance, work attendance and attitude as it relates to the job tasks, RCTC values, service attributes, core outcomes, and interaction with students, staff, and visitors.
