Ways to Pay for College

The Financial Aid Department at Rochester Community and Technical College is available to assist students who need financial aid to meet college costs. RCTC awards in excess of $42 million from a variety of financial aid programs including grants, scholarships, work earnings, and student loans.

Requirements to Apply for Financial Aid:

  • Student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) at studentaid.gov
  • Student must be admitted as a degree candidate at RCTC
  • Student must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits)*
  • Student must be making progress toward their degree

*Students enrolled less than half-time may be eligible for prorated Federal Pell and Minnesota State Grants.

 

First Things First — APPLY FOR FAFSA®

Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) with the U.S. Department of Education to be considered for financial aid.

 

Students must complete a new FAFSA® each year they wish to apply for Financial Aid.

 

Scholarships

Scholarship funds are considered a gift and you do not need to repay.

Grants

A grant offers funds you generally do not need to repay.

 

Student Employment (Work Study)

The student obtains a work-study position, either on- or off-campus, and then works to earn their award. The funds earned do not need to be repaid.

 

Student Loans

Student Loans must be repaid, along with all fees, charges, and accumulated interest.
