Mutschelknaus Named Outstanding Educator

Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) is proud to announce its Outstanding Educator for 2025, English Instructor Mike Mutschelknaus, Ed.D. Dr. Mutschelknaus was selected for his exemplary teaching, dedication, and commitment to student success. He has been a member of the RCTC English faculty since 2000.

“Dr. Mutschelknaus was nominated by students, faculty, and staff for his exceptional contributions to RCTC,” said the College’s Vice President of Academic Affairs. “A comprehensive portfolio showcasing his exemplary teaching, dedicated service, and unwavering commitment to the college—along with heartfelt testimonials from students—clearly illustrates the significant impact of his work. These attributes make him a truly deserving recipient of RCTC’s Outstanding Educator Award.”

One student nominator shared, “Dr. Mutschelknaus is a supportive and engaging professor. He provides variety in his assignments and challenges his students to grow. He gives incredible and detailed feedback that both encourages his students and helps them become better writers. He offers support both in and out of class and wants his students to succeed.”

As a full-time faculty member, Dr. Mutschelknaus will have his portfolio forwarded to the Minnesota State Board of Trustees as a finalist for the Board of Trustees Award for Excellence. He will be honored, along with colleagues from across the state, at a system-wide celebration in April 2026.
