Job Responsibilities
We are looking for creative, trend-savvy, and highly motivated students to join our marketing and communications team. As a Social Media Student Creator, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, creating, filming, and editing engaging content that showcases student life, campus events, academics, and school spirit to prospective and current students.
- Content Creation: Brainstorm ideas and create high-quality social media content (including short-form videos, photos, podcasts, and graphics) tailored for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Copywriting: Write compelling, engaging, and on-brand captions that resonate with a student audience.
- Account Management: Help maintain the daily posting schedule and manage the content calendar across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Snapchat, and LinkedIn.
- Campus Coverage: Attend select campus events, sporting games, and student activities to capture live, authentic moments.
- Trend Research: Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, viral audio, and algorithm updates.
Performance Expectations
The successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate will be fluent in written and spoken English and be able to successfully proofread documents. The candidate must be reliable, able to meet deadlines, work quickly and with consistent accuracy. The candidate should have a working understanding of social media platforms, experience using video editing apps, and graphic design tools such as Canva. Examples of past social media content, video and graphics is necessary.
Additional Notes
- Complete student worker training when assigned.
- Communicate any schedule changes to your lead worker in advance.
- Submit your payroll forms to gain access to eTime through e-Services (Student Employment).
- All hours must be recorded on eTime the day they are worked: https://www.rctc.edu/eservices/
- You are entitled to a 15-minute break for every four consecutive hours worked.
Performance Review
Students are eligible for a wage increase after they have worked 200 hours and based on performance evaluation. The area supervisor will assess the student employee’s performance, work attendance and attitude as it relates to the job tasks, RCTC values, service attributes, core outcomes, and interaction with students, staff, and visitors.
