Work responsibilities include greeting students, donors, and guests; answering phones; database entry; scanning and filing; preparing materials for mailing; and other projects as assigned.
Performance Expectations
Our goal in the Foundation Office is to build a culture of quality, service, value, and care. This position plays a vital role in supporting that mission by serving as a reliable and professional front-line representative of the office.
The Foundation Office relies on the student office assistant to provide coverage when staff are not available. The student employee is expected to work their assigned schedule consistently, with a 15-minute break allowed during a 4-hour shift.
Professionalism is essential in this role. The student is expected to:
- Dress appropriately and maintain a professional appearance
- Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and a positive attitude
- Interact effectively with students, staff, and visitors
Strong communication and customer service skills are important. Experience with office tasks and basic computer skills are helpful. The student must also be able to work independently after receiving instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner while meeting deadlines.
Confidentiality is critical; the student must understand and uphold the importance of protecting sensitive information.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as the front desk contact for the Foundation Office
- Answering and directing phone calls
- Assisting with data entry
- Providing general administrative and office support

Additional Notes
- Complete student worker training when assigned.
- Communicate any schedule changes to your lead worker in advance.
- Submit your payroll forms to gain access to eTime through e-Services (Student Employment).

- You are entitled to a 15-minute break for every four consecutive hours worked.
Performance Review
Students are eligible for a wage increase after they have worked 200 hours and based on performance evaluation. The area supervisor will assess the student employee’s performance, work attendance and attitude as it relates to the job tasks, RCTC values, service attributes, core outcomes, and interaction with students, staff, and visitors.
