Academic Success Center Schedule Changes
- Tuesday, September 15 – The ASC staff will attend training 2pm – 4pm. The rooms will remain open, but tutor availability will be limited.
- Wednesday, September 16 – This is Faculty Development Day and there are no classes. The ASC will have reduced hours. We will be open 8am – 11:30am.
The vision of the Academic Success Center (ASC) is to be a place where every student feels seen, supported, and equipped to reach their full potential – academically and beyond. We offer free tutoring to all RCTC and Winona State University-Rochester students, helping them develop the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in their coursework and achieve their goals.
We are conveniently located within the Goddard Library. Come visit us.

Academic Success Center Tutoring Options
Scheduled Appointments
We offer in-person and online appointments in multiple subjects. Appointments offer you one-on-one personalized tutoring with no waiting. You are guaranteed up to 45 minutes with your chosen tutor.
WC Online is our appointment system. In WC Online, you will be able to select a date and time that work for you. The first time you log in, you will be prompted to register. Your email address will already have your RCTC email account. Please do not change your email address. Enter your StarID and phone number, then scroll to the bottom and press ‘Create Account’.

After making an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not see a response in your inbox, please check your junk or clutter mailbox.
Drop In Tutoring – Fall Semester Hours Begin August 24
If you prefer not to make an appointment, you can simply drop in at the Academic Success Center. The spaces are open for studying Monday – Wednesday from 8am – 6pm and Thursday – Friday from 8am – 4:30pm. Tutors will assist students on a first-come, first-served basis, with appointments given priority. Tutor hours vary by subject area, as listed below.

Tutor.Com
In addition to the Academic Success Center, RCTC has contracted with Tutor.com to provide 24/7 online access to a tutor. You may find this useful when you have a question outside of the ASC tutoring hours (evenings or weekends).
All students receive 15 hours of free Tutor.com services per year. If you use all of your hours, you may request more by emailing Jennifer Hewerdine, Dean of Academic Services, Support, and Innovation, at [email protected].
How to Access Tutor.Com
You must access Tutor.com from your D2L Brightspace account.
- From the D2L Brightspace home page, the Tutor.Com link is at the bottom under ‘Learning Resources’.
- From any D2L Brightspace course page, the Tutor.com link is under the ‘Resources’ menu at the top of the page.
Tutor.Com Services
Within Tutor.com, you can choose to:
- Connect with a Tutor Now: The system will connect you with the first available tutor for your subject.
- Schedule a Session: Select the date and time you would like to meet with a tutor.
- Drop off Your Work for a Writing Review: After submitting an essay draft, find your feedback, guaranteed within 12 hours, in your RCTC email. The Writing tutors will happily show you how if you need a tutorial.

We are now hiring Student Academic Coaches for the fall semester. Some benefits of working as a student tutor are:

Faculty and Staff Referrals
Faculty and staff can refer students directly to tutoring services with our new short referral form.
How it Works
- Submit this referral form with any details that may help the tutoring team understand how best to support the student.
- Tutors will notify you when: the student attends a tutoring session or a few weeks have passed with no attendance.
