RCTC Employees Make Huge Donation to Student Food Shelf

As part of the College’s first-annual Hive Supply Holiday Stocking Challenge, RCTC faculty, staff, and administration collectively donated 1,819 pounds of non-perishable food items and household staples to the College’s student food shelf, the Hive Supply.

In the spirt of fun, College service and academic departments competed to be named challenge champion.  In all, 20 different areas contributed items with the RCTC Business Faculty taking home first place having donated an average of 55.7 pounds per person (given the variety in Office and Department sizes the total weight donated was divided by number of employees per area).  Special recognition went to the RCTC Science Department which collectively donated nearly 315 pounds of items.

Aside from food items, RCTC employees also donated 623 rolls of toilet paper and enough laundry detergent for students to do 1,500 loads of laundry.

The Hive Supply is open to any RCTC student and works to alleviate food insecurities many RCTC students face.  The public is welcome to make donations to the Hive Supply—non-perishable items, personal hygiene, and household staples are always in need.  Financial contributions are welcomed as well.
