Applying for Financial Aid (FAFSA®)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA®, is the application all RCTC students are required to complete to be considered for any type of Financial Aid. This includes grants, work-study, and student loan funding. Students must complete a new FAFSA® each year they wish to apply for Financial Aid. The FAFSA® application is made available in October for the following academic year. The deadline for completion of the 2024-2025 FAFSA is June 30, 2025.

The deadline to submit verification and other requested documentation is 120 days after the student’s last date of attendance or September 1st following the end of the academic year, whichever is sooner.  Students who are selected for verification after having received Financial Aid disbursements must provide verification documents by the deadlines noted above.  Failing to do so will result in the requirement to return all financial aid funding issued for the academic year.  See the Financial Aid Office staff for any questions regarding the deadlines for the submission of documentation.

Within one week of submitting your FAFSA® application, the Department of Education will email or mail you a FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS). The FSS will either contain a request for more information or a Student Aid Index (SAI) number.  If no corrections are needed, you should keep the FSS for your records. RCTC will receive your application and SAI data electronically if we were listed as a College Choice on your FAFSA. We will be in contact with you to assist in completing your file at RCTC.
