Congratulations on your acceptance to Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC), we’re excited to have you join us!
To help place you in the appropriate courses, please submit one or more of the items listed below. This is a required step before attending Thrive in the Hive orientation.
SUBMIT ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING PLACEMENT MATERIALS (as applicable):
Test Scores less than 5 years old (ACT, SAT, MCA): You can email us a copy of your unofficial scores, or request official scores from ACT or College Board (SAT). Minnesota students with MCA test scores can retrieve unofficial scores from your high school portal.
High School Transcript (contact your high school for instructions to request a transcript): Submit your transcript with GPA visible. If your transcript does not include test scores, be sure to submit those separately. If you have already submitted a final transcript, you won’t need to send another one.
College Transcripts: If you’ve completed college-level English, Reading, or Math, send your official transcripts. Evaluations take about 2 weeks and you’ll receive an email once your placement is updated.
NEED TO TAKE A PLACEMENT TEST?
If you don’t have current test scores or college-level coursework, you can take the Accuplacer placement test.
Important! Only sign up if you haven’t already taken a placement test. If your plans change, please cancel your appointment so other students can use the seat.
Sign up for an Accuplacer Placement Test Session through the RCTC Testing Center. A valid photo ID is required to test.

Can’t come to campus? Email [email protected] to obtain a voucher to take the test at a center near you.
NEXT STEPS:
- Complete Thrive in the Hive Orientation. Once course placement materials have been received, you will be emailed access to the Thrive in the Hive online orientation. This course is required of all new students.
- Schedule an Advising/Counseling Appointment. When you have completed Thrive in the Hive orientation, you will receive information to schedule an advising appointment with your Academic Advisor or Counselor.
- Meet with your Advisor/Counselor to register for classes.
