The RCTC Testing Center offers various testing opportunities and services for students and community members in a secure, quiet environment. Students who wish to schedule an exam should follow the instructions below. The Testing Center is located in AT 209, directly above the RCTC Bookstore.
- ONLY REGISTERED TESTERS ARE ALLOWED IN THE TESTING CENTER. Parents, friends, guests, etc. cannot enter the Testing Center. Testers who bring unauthorized guests into the Testing Center risk their test session and/or test results cancelled or invalidated.
- A VALID PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED TO TAKE ANY SCHEDULED EXAM. Students who do not have a photo ID upon arriving at the Testing Center will NOT BE ALLOWED to test, even with verbal identification from staff or faculty.
All personal items will be stored in a Testing Center locker upon entry. No items, including food, beverages, cell phones, headphones, or other electronic items will be permitted at any testing station. (Exceptions are made only for items required of the exam, confirmed by the instructor.) Students who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or are suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol may be asked to leave the Testing Center to maintain a proper testing environment.
New, Admitted RCTC Students
Students who have been admitted to RCTC and have been directed to complete a placement exam should sign up for an Accuplacer Placement Test. Please do NOT sign up if you have not been directed to do so.
Accuplacer offers online-based practice tests and prep materials through their ACCUPLACER Student Portal. Students can create a free account with their personal email to access the resources.
Students who have been directed to take a placement test are allowed one retest per calendar year for each test required. No additional testing will be permitted following the original test and one retest until 365 days have passed.
Students who cannot travel to RCTC for the Accuplacer can take the test at a United States testing center closest to home. Please reach out via email, testing@rctc.edu, to obtain a test voucher.
Other Testing Options
The RCTC Testing Center offers CLEP, DSST, Kryterion, Meazure, HSRT, and other exams that require professional proctoring. Fees listed below are applicable to ANY student requesting non-faculty testing exams, including RCTC students.
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities students who need a proctored distance exam must request an appointment using the link below. Exam requests must be made at least five (5) business (working days) in advance of the request date. Drop in testing will not be accommodated. This appointment request is tentative until the Testing Center has received faculty confirmation and materials needed for the exam.
If you do not see an option that fits your needs, please email the Testing Center at testing@rctc.edu.
Instructor Exam Responsibilities
RCTC Instructors are responsible for coordinating exams for their students who need make-up testing or proctored tests during class hours. Instructors should work with their Deans to secure computer labs if necessary.
Non-RCTC Instructors requesting a proctored student exam must complete the Non-RCTC Faculty Test Request Form. Please allow two (2) business days for a response from the Testing Center.
