1. You need to attend each class every day that it meets.
2. Being successful in college will require maturity, self-discipline, good study skills, and time management skills. As a general rule, you will need to spend two hours of study time for each hour you are in class.
3. You must understand that controversial and adult subjects may be discussed in many courses and your participation is expected.
4. If you have any questions regarding any of your courses you must direct them to each individual instructor.
5. All requirements needed for high school graduation must be discussed with your high school counselor.
6. You are eligible to participate in any extra curricular activities that your high school and/or RCTC have to offer. This includes music, choir, theatre, clubs, athletics, intra murals, prom, dances, homecoming, honor societies, etc. Per NJCAA rule, a PSEO student cannot become a college athlete while still in high school.
7. Check you student email on a regular basis. Email is the official means of communication at RCTC. All students should go to RCTC Email Accounts – Official Means of Communication at Rochester Community and Technical College and begin using their RCTC Email account.
8. By state law, minor students (anyone under 18) cannot receive medical treatment in our Health Services without the written consent of the parent/guardian.

Registration Processes for PSEO students
- Post-Secondary Enrollment Option students are not identified to RCTC instructors; therefore you will be treated as any other college student at RCTC.
- Full-time status in the PSEO is 12 to 18 credits at RCTC. Part-time would be figured on an individual basis, however only under extreme circumstances should a student register for more than 11 credits when attending RCTC as a part-time student. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the high school and get the high school counselor/administrators approval to take an overload.
- Sample Requirement Equivalencies: Four (4) RCTC credits are equal to one (1) high school credit.
- English – English 1117, 1118. If Accuplacer is below 1117, must complete at high school
- Government – Political Science 1615.
- Social Studies – Any courses in Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, or Geography. See the content descriptions for these courses…
- You cannot enroll in any RCTC courses numbered below 1000. The program does not support these courses, as they are considered high school level or developmental. Even if you choose to enroll in these courses and pay your own way, your H.S. may not accept these courses in transfer.
- We will have a meeting approximately 2 weeks prior to every semester’s registration time to discuss schedule planning, collect PSEO forms, and answer any questions. You will receive a letter regarding this meeting. Representatives from the counseling staff will be available if you desire their services.
- In order to register you must have:
- Tuition, health service fee, technology fee, student government fee, all required textbooks, and some approved supplies are taken care of, financially, by the program.
- The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, commonly known as FERPA, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. Students have specific, protected rights regarding the release of such records and FERPA requires that institutions adhere strictly to these guidelines. Therefore, it is imperative that parents, siblings, children, grandparents, friends – anyone that is not the student of record – do not have access to view/change records of any type at RCTC.
