Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all public entities at the state and local levels. It ensures that people with disabilities have equal access to services, programs, and activities provided by these entities, promoting their full participation in civic life. This section of the ADA is crucial for safeguarding the rights of individuals with disabilities ensuring they receive non-discriminatory services. RCTC is in compliance with the Americans with Disability Act.
In addition, Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) complies with the provisions of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (P.L. 93-112) which mandates equal opportunity for the qualified disabled person in education programs and activities of all recipients of federal financial aid assistance. Section 504 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disabilities and offers to disabled persons opportunity to participate fully in all educational programs and activities.
Together these acts aim to ensure that individuals with disabilities have full access to benefits and services.
