Minnesota Health Information Management Association (MHIMA) sponsors a scholarship program for Minnesota residents enrolled in an in-state or out-of-state program or out-of-state students attending a Minnesota school. Winning essays will be announced in April and published in the MHIMA Uplink, and the scholarships awarded at MHIMA’s annual meeting in May. Past awards have ranged from $500 to $1,000. Guidelines, application, and validation/verification forms are available on the MHIMA site, http://www.mnhima.org under Careers/Colleges or more specifically, (http://mnhima.org/). We have had graduates receive scholarship awards in the past from MHIMA, so we encourage interested students to please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

Foundation of Research and Education of AHIMA (FORE of AHIMA) offers merit scholarships to outstanding undergraduate students pursuing degrees in health information administration and health information technology. Scholarships are also available to credentialed health information management (HIM) professionals pursuing graduate degrees in an area related to HIM practice. Guidelines and application information can be found on the AHIMA site, http://www.ahima.org/ .
